History / Mission
History: East Ohio Regional Hospital was founded in 1906 as Martins Ferry Hospital by Dr. R.H. Wilson. Having begun with just 30 beds and five physicians, EORH is now licensed for nearly 250 beds, and utilizes a medical staff of more than 175 physicians, dentists and podiatrists.
The name was changed from Martins Ferry Hospital in 1985 to East Ohio Regional Hospital to signify the addition of new facilities and an expansion of services. EORH now employs more than 600 people, making it one of Belmont County’s largest employers.
Mission: EORH exists to serve the charitable purpose of providing quality, cost-effective, primary care to the citizens of our community in a manner that respects the rights of those we serve.
