06/22/09

WHEELING--Members of the Relay for Life Team at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling were recognized by Governor Joe Manchin recently for their ongoing commitment to the fight against cancer.

Representatives from the American Cancer Society presented team captains Scot Malson and Betsy Vieweg, both OVMC employees, with a Certificate of Recognition from Governor Manchin’s office in recognition of their efforts in raising more than $10,000 for the ACS last year.

Additionally, they were presented with a certificate from the Ohio County Chapter of the ACS for being the top fund-raising team in 2008.

Each year, the Relay for Life Team at OVMC works to raise money through a variety of fund-raisers. Activities include a spaghetti dinner, T-shirt sale, raffles, candy bar sales and a collaborative effort with the Wheeling Nailers "Relay at the Rink".
