OVMC Receives Donation from Drive Fore A Cure Golf Classic 02/13/08 WHEELING, W.Va. – As a result of the fundraising efforts from the second annual “Driving Fore A Cure Golf Classic,” Ohio Valley Breast Cancer Inc. has donated fashionable treatment robes for patients at Ohio Valley Medical Center’s Center for Breast Care.
The Driving Fore A Cure Golf Classic, which was held in October, brought together golfers and sponsors for a breast cancer benefit golf tournament. The proceeds raised from this special golf tournament benefited the Center for Breast Cancer at OVMC and local breast cancer patients and will be used to promote and advance the cause of breast cancer awareness in the Ohio Valley.
“These robes are equipped to make breast cancer patients’ recovery experience easier while preserving their modesty,” said Kathy Blass, president of the Ohio Valley Breast Cancer Awareness. “Women who go through treatment have to be cognizant of the clothes they wear, and these robes give patients a sense of security.”
The fashionable robes, which were featured on the Oprah show, provide doctors and nurses with convenient and discreet access to patients during treatment.
Breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths for all women and the leading cause of cancer deaths in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Currently there are more than 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer. Increased awareness means more survivors.
Ohio Valley Breast Cancer Awareness and Ohio Valley Medical Center have announced the 3rd annual “Driving Fore A Cure Golf Classic” scheduled for Friday, October 10, at Oglebay Resort’s Arnold Palmer Golf Course at Speidel.
