Ladies Auxiliary at EORH Makes Donation
MARTINS FERRY--The Ladies Auxiliary at East Ohio Regional Hospital recently ended its annual fund-raising campaign with a donation of more than $80,000 to the hospital. The auxiliary is comprised of the many twigs within the hospital, all of whom dedicate their time, energy and resources to raising money that is ultimately used to enhance patient care within the hospital.
“We are forever indebted to these hardworking ladies” said Anne E. Hellstern, Associate Administrator at EORH. “In these days when so many more women work, volunteering time for an organization like ours takes a concentrated effort.”
“Every year they step up and donate a little more money than the year before,” Hellstern commented. “They are continually looking for unique ways to raise funds and that shows a true commitment to our hospital and to our mission in the community.”
Funds raised by the auxiliary come from a variety of sources. In addition to the individual efforts of the various twigs, the auxiliary itself sponsors a variety of events to raise money. Additionally, the auxiliary earns money from the hospital’s vending program, as well as from the Gift Shop, which is staffed entirely by volunteers.
The auxiliary’s donation is the fourth of a five-year commitment to the hospital’s capital campaign effort. “Building a Better Healthcare Community ”is a $2.5 million endeavor to assist in offsetting the cost of a $12 million expansion of the hospital’s surgery department.
